Carson Stokebrand, Morgan Demmel and Wade Hilligoss have been selected to staff the University of Nebraska-Lincoln ABC News on Campus summer bureau.

Stokebrand, named bureau chief, is pursuing his master's degree in journalism and mass communications with a specialization in broadcasting at UNL. Demmel is a junior broadcasting and news-editorial major and Hilligoss is a junior broadcasting major.

The ABC News on Campus program is a partnership between the ABC television network's news division and five leading journalism schools -- UNL, Arizona State University, Syracuse University, University of Florida, and University of Texas at Austin.

Stokebrand studied communications and history at Concordia University in Seward, Neb., while he worked as a reporter for The Sower, the student newspaper. During his senior year Stokebrand was named managing editor and oversaw the completion of every aspect of the newspaper. In 2009, he won second place in the investigative/in-depth story category at the Nebraska Collegiate Media Association annual competition and was named Concordia's outstanding student of journalism and public relations that same year.

Demmel, of Lafayette, Colo., spent last summer as an intern for CBS 4 News and Newsradio 850 KOA in Denver. She has contributed to the UNL-run news website, NewsNetNebraska.org, and appeared on the campus newscast Star City News.

Hilligoss began as the number two play-by-play and number one color commentator on LincolnPrepSports.com, calling high school athletics in his hometown of Lincoln and became afternoon sports intern and evening news anchor at KFOR 1240 AM. Hilligoss has worked as a utility staff member at UNL's campus radio station, KRNU, and its Web-only stream, Studio 201, where he trained other students. In 2009, he served as an intern for Lincoln's ESPN radio affiliate.

Opened in August 2009, the ABC News on Campus bureau is located in Andersen Hall in a state-of-the-art studio and privately funded.
