Event Description

In this Business Learning Series, two business owners with experience in running successful crowdfunding campaigns will talk about the ins and outs of this method of raising funds and how businesses can position themselves in the crowded market for optimal results. This workshop covers:

  • How crowdfunding platforms work
  • Choosing one for your business
  • Setting the right expectations
  • What aspects of the campaign to hire out
  • Choosing rewards
  • Setting campaign goals
  • Designing a pre-launch plan
  • Establish virality during the campaign
  • Setting up a strategic post-campaign campaign

Business owners will leave the workshop with a clear picture of what it takes to run a crowdfunding campaign, decide on goals and begin their journey in crowdfunding.

Rachael Blaske is a Nebraska girlboss who has experienced crowdfunding highs and lows through operating multiple Kickstarter campaigns in its largest category: Tabletop Gaming. She is happy to share her behind the scenes experiences of $100,000 successes as well as her humbling unfunded cancellations.  Rachael wants to help new creators think outside the box while avoiding re-inventing the wheel.

Sara Brown is a Lincoln, Nebraska, native with a knack for southern hospitality. She resigned herself from corporate America to follow a dream of opening up her own plant-inspired comfort food eatery in the heart of downtown. Relying on the following she had built and the use of a crowd-funding platform, she turned this dream into a reality and opened the doors of Rutabagas in September of 2019.
