Some of the nation's acclaimed authors and most influential publishing professionals will be on hand to help writers of all experience levels master their craft and learn about the publishing process at this year's Nebraska Summer Writers Conference.
The annual conference, regarded as one of the Midwest's premier literary events, is set for June 11-17 at UNL. Registration is open to attend workshops in poetry, novels, short fiction, memoir, nature writing and publishing. The conference will offer weekend and weeklong curricula. Readings and panel discussions also are included in the lineup, and many are free to attend and open to the public.
This year's faculty includes Daniel Handler, author of the best-selling "Lemony Snicket" series; Carolyn Parkhurst, author of the best-selling "The Dogs of Babel"; Kim Addonizio, National Book Award finalist in poetry; Hilda Raz, University of New Mexico Press poetry series editor; poet Aimee Nezhukumatathil; novelist Maud Casey; Kate Bernheimer, novelist and editor of Fairy Tale Review; Zachary Schomburg, poet and co-editor of Octopus Books; memoirist Robin Hemley; poet Glenna Luschei; crime novelist Sean Doolittle; and publishing professionals Anna de Vries (editor), Richard Dooling (legal/business), and Jessica Regel (agent).

The Nebraska Summer Writers Conference is part of the creative writing program of UNL's English Department. Prairie Schooner, also part of the creative writing program, is one of the nation's most renowned literary journals, currently in its 85th year of publishing.
