National group honors Robert Brown with Lifetime Achievement Award

Lincoln, Neb., April 20th, 2012 —

            Robert D. Brown, Happold Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Educational Psychology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, was awarded the American College Personnel Association-College Educators International's 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award. The award was presented March 26 at the group's national convention in Louisville, Ky.

            During his career, Brown served as editor of the ACPA's journal, Journal of College Student Development (1983-1988) and also as ACPA's president. His monograph, "Student Development in Tomorrow’s Higher Education" (1972), reshaped the student affairs profession for several decades. He was subsequently recognized as a Senior Scholar (1984) and given ACPA's Outstanding Contribution to Knowledge Award (1979).

            Brown is also a Fellow in the American Psychological Association and the American Educational Research Association.
