Who should attend: Faculty teaching at a distance, faculty interested in teaching at a distance, faculty who are interested in integrating online elements into their face-to-face classes

Wondering what you need to consider when thinking about making your course mobile friendly? Wondering what teaching strategies work well with mobile devices, or what your workflow would be like if you use a mobile device with your courses? Wondering if there are “best” applications you can use? If you are wondering any of these things, you should attend this demonstration.

Presenters:
Charles Ansorge –Statistics on the go with mobile friendly video clips
Adam Wagler – Learning Science with interactive comics
Kevin Lee – Considerations when making a proposal targeting mobiles and tablets
Frauke Hachtmann – Streamlining course management and instructor-student interactions with a combination of tablet and cloud services
Sydney Brown – Web Conferencing with SyncPad for iPad and other iPad applications.

Open-Floor Discussion and Interaction:
How are you using or thinking of using mobile devices, iPads, and tablets. What excites you about mobile devices? What concerns you about using mobile devices with your courses? What are the pros/cons of using a service (iTunes, YouTube, Flickr) vs. trying to maintain your own files? What should you do to render Blackboard courses more mobile friendly? What questions do you have for the presenters? In essence, any topic related to mobile devices and teaching/learning is welcome as part of the open-floor discussions.

Handouts:
Useful apps for both mobiles and tablets, organized by operating system and function
Workflow tutorials with recommended apps to make one’s mobile or tablet more immediately useful
