Outdoor Adventures at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln is offering four Spring Break trips for current Husker students between March 7–17, 2024.

Activity-related gear, transportation, meals, and instruction are included in the cost of the trips.

Each trip has a limited number of spots. Participants must register before the 12 p.m. Feb. 26 sign-up deadline, either online or in person at the Outdoor Adventures Center located at the corner of 14th & W Streets on city campus.

Previous experience and outdoor skills are not a requirement to join a trip. Trip instructors will guide and lead each group through each adventure's activities.

Participants should be in good physical condition and have a positive state of mind. Trips are open to Husker students as well as the general public.

Rio Grande Canoeing

March 7–17, 2024

If you seek a real adventure, the remote river canyons of southwest Texas are for you. Participants will cover about 80 miles in the tight canyons forged by the iconic Rio Grande River and explore side canyons or remains of abandoned villages.

The trip group will spend multiple days on the river with no resupplies or stops at restaurants. Given the remoteness and challenging rapids of this adventure, participants must be in good physical condition and have a positive state of mind.

Escalante Backpacking

March 8-17, 2024

Located in south-central Utah’s high desert, Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument boasts some of the most beautiful geological features, natural arches, and orange and red canyons of the southwest United States.

Participants will explore canyons and learn about the area’s native cultures while backpacking the park. The group will carry in all the necessary gear, cook savory backcountry meals, and enjoy great conversations under the stars.

Many first-time adventurers have done this trip, though this is a serious physical activity requiring many hours of walking most days. Participants will need to supply their own sturdy hiking boots and rain gear.
