Windstream Telephone Cable Replacement Project

-PROJECT COMPLETED-

It has recently been discovered that telephone cables that feed parts of City Campus have been damaged. These cables are property of Windstream Communications, and they are the major trunk lines providing the majority of the telephone service to UNL’s city campus.  Beginning  Wednesday, June 29 at 6:00 a.m., Windstream will begin work to replace the damaged cables.

Due to the size of the cables and the number of connections contained within, this work will take approximately two weeks to complete and various city campus telephone sets may experience brief, one-to-two minute outages while they are cutover to the new connections.

Windstream is reporting that a majority of campus may not even notice these small cut overs; however, Information Technology Services has taken some preventative measures with key operational departments and plans to have staff onsite at various buildings during these next two weeks.
