The "I Love NU" Advocacy Day is 2 to 5 p.m. March 6 at the Nebraska State Capitol. The event is free and open to the public.

An “I Love NU” Advocacy Day will be held at the Nebraska State Capitol from 2 to 5 p.m. March 6.

The event is open to anyone — including students, faculty, staff and alumni — wishing to show support for the University of Nebraska. Participants will be able to visit and speak with senators and share their NU stories.

A complete schedule is available on NU Advocacy Day’s Facebook page. Supporters are encouraged to arrive between 1:30 and 2 p.m.

Information on the university’s budget challenges, an overview of the impact NU makes on Nebraska and other advocacy-related details are available online.

Faculty and staff who attend the event during regular work hours should use vacation or banked/floating holiday time and must receive approval for time off from a supervisor.

Besides attending the “I Love NU” Advocacy Day, faculty, staff and students can also show support for the university by:

  • reaching out to their senator via letter, email or phone to discuss why higher education is important;

  • watching for action alerts by signing up to be an NU Advocate;

  • following the University of Nebraska on Facebook and Twitter for news and updates;

  • sharing their story on social media using the #NUforNE hashtag; and

  • checking out the latest NU Advocate news and events.
