Brief Program Description:

Early College and Career Pathway
The early college and career pathway is for 11th and 12th grade students at Northeast High School who plan to pursue a 2- or 4-year degree upon graduation or who wish to enter the workforce with experience and knowledge that gives them an edge in attaining a job in a FEWS2 discipline. Students will be able to take college credit classes and receive a certificate or digital badge that demonstrates competency in a specific area. Students engaged in this pathway will also be able to pursue internship opportunities.

Nebraska Now courses have reduced tuition ($330/flat fee per course). Students eligible for free and reduced lunch can apply for free tuition through the Nebraska ACE scholarship program, additional scholarships from the Foundation for Lincoln Public Schools are available.

FEWS2 Experience 1,2,3,4 — an LPS course taught on campus or at Northeast - depending on registration numbers
The core of the Early College and Career STEM focus program with Northeast is Food, Energy, Water, and Societal Systems (FEWSS). The course will involve a monthly theme tied back to all parts of agriculture: Environmental Stewardship, Entrepreneurship Designers, Food System Futurists, Health System Innovators, Community Leaders, and Global Learners. Students will experience hands-on immersions, such as working with a UNL faculty member in an area of interest related to FEWSS, or having a work based learning experience.
