The University of Alaska Fairbanks Extension, National Drought Mitigation Center, and USDA Northwest Climate Hub are hosting two workshops in Alaska on 14 & 16 November 2022. The goals of these workshops are to enhance understanding of water and
agriculture through knowledge sharing and consider ways to reduce impacts during weather extremes such as drought. These workshops will focus on precipitation and temperature as it related to agriculture; discuss drought indicators and monitoring; give attendees an opportunity to engage in a drought scenarios exercise; and focus on peer-to-peer learning related to water mitigation strategies to contend with dry and variable conditions for producers and gardeners.
The workshops are intended for producers, gardeners, and technical staff such as Extension, Natural Resources Conservation District, Farm Service Agency, Soil and water conservation districts and Tribal conservation districts. Lunch will be provided for in-person attendees. Special requests for lunch can be submitted below, and we will do our best to accommodate them.
