Description
Description:  Woods to Water Wildlife Solutions is a private contractor for the Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD).  The primary responsibility of this position is to provide on-ramp watercraft aquatic invasive species (AIS) inspection and decontamination services on the Arizona side of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area at Wahweap and Antelope Point public boat ramps.  This is a 40hr/week seasonal position running through October (with possibility to extend).  
 
Work Duties Include:  Inspect watercrafts for the presence of AIS (specifically quagga mussels), perform standing water decontaminations, data collection/entry, and provide public outreach and education pertaining to stopping the spread of AIS. Employee will work closely with the public, as well as state and federal agency employees, and may be asked to assist with other statewide projects.
 
Qualifications:  Candidate must be 18 years of age or older and possess (and maintain) a valid driver’s license at the time of employment.  Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, and able to work outside in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time.  Must be detailed oriented, hardworking, able to crawl on and under boats, and have excellent communication skills.  Must be self-motivated, able to work independently as well as within a team setting.
 
Other:  Preference may be given to career minded applicants with or currently working towards completion of a degree in biological/environmental sciences, wildlife/fisheries, social science, or similar field. Prior knowledge of boats/boat mechanics is extremely helpful but not required.  Prior knowledge of AIS, and watercraft inspection and decontamination protocols are preferred but not required. Watercraft Inspection and Decontamination Training/Certification will be provided by AZGFD to become an authorized agent of the Department.
