About the author

Dr. Marques L. A. Garrett is an established conductor, educator, and composer, and is currently Assistant Professor of Music in Choral Activities at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. As a leading scholar in the area of non-idiomatic choral music by Black composers, he has presented sessions on this topic at conferences throughout the United States and abroad.
