Event Description

Join us for COVID-19 Industry Outlook on Thursday, June 18, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The global spread of the novel coronavirus has created immense challenges for Nebraskan small business owners. Join Nebraska Development Center Director Craig Boesch and Nebraska Center for Entrepreneurship Assistant Director Kyle Gibson as they discuss the relatively positive outlook Nebraska businesses face compared to those in the rest of the country.  They will also highlight some opportunities Nebraska businesses might take advantage of as the world adapts to the coronavirus. This presentation is part of a Business Learning Series hosted by Umeda Islamova, UNL Center for Entrepreneurship. If you would like to be notified of future events, please email umeda@unl.edu.

About the presenter:

Kyle Gibson, Ph.D. is the assistant director and research assistant professor at the Center for Entrepreneurship in the College of Business at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. He conducts applied research using mixed methods to understand the business landscape in the Lincoln, Omaha and greater Nebraska area. Outside academia, he held positions such as manager, controller, marketing analyst and copywriter. He worked in startup environments for nearly 20 years, beginning with a small retail store and ending most recently with a rapidly growing Inc. 5000 company.

Craig Boesch is the director for Southeast Nebraska with the Nebraska Business Development Center. As a rural Nebraska native and long-time Lincoln, Nebraska resident, he draws upon four decades of practical business experience. Following graduation from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, he served as a marketing consultant to a wide variety of Lincoln and Southeast Nebraska businesses. Boesch became an entrepreneurial partner, bootstrapping one of Lincoln’s early, rapid-growth technology start-ups. Following his exit from that successful venture, he further honed and broadened his business perspective, serving as a consultant to domestic and international clients including highly successful individuals, business owners and organizations.
