Orientation is a required program for all new first-year, transfer and international students. Through orientation, you'll learn about campus resources and support, connect with peers and prepare for college at Nebraska.

Your $250 enrollment deposit must be paid or deferred to gain access to new student enrollment processes. To pay or defer the enrollment deposit, login to MyRED, click the "Admissions" tab, "Undergraduate" and then "Pay Enrollment Deposit." Please direct deposit-related questions to admissions@unl.edu.
Completing your orientation reservation will officially indicate that you'd like to move forward with new student processes.
Confirm your major on the first page of the reservation. If the major displayed is not your intended major, submit the Change of Major request form in MyRED under the "Admissions" tab.
First-Year Students:
First-year students who live within 300 miles of campus are required to attend First-Year In-Person Orientation. First-year students who have extenuating circumstances may choose Online Orientation, but First-Year In-Person Orientation is highly recommended for all first-year students.
The reservation will open in MyRED May 2 and default to First-Year In-Person Orientation.
You will select an available date between May 29 and July 11. Dates that have reached their maximum capacity will not be displayed.
First-Year In-Person Orientation runs from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. CDT. Orientation is free for students. You can choose to add up to three parents/family members to your reservation for a fee of $15 per guest. You can pay the fee via credit card on the registration form, or you can choose to have the fee deferred to your first student bill.
Transfer Students:
Online Orientation is required for transfer students. Transfer In-Person Orientation is optional.
The reservation will open in MyRED April 2 and default to Online Orientation as it is required for transfer students. You may register for the optional Transfer In-Person Orientation using a different form that will be sent via email in early July.
The reservation in MyRED will display an Online Orientation access date. This is the date when you will gain access to the orientation course in Canvas. You will have two weeks from that date to complete the course.
International Students:
Both International In-Person Orientation and Online Orientation are required for international students.
The reservation will open in MyRED April 2 for transfers and May 2 for first-year students and default to Online Orientation as Online Orientation is required for international students. You will not need to register for International In-Person Orientation.
The reservation will display an Online Orientation access date. This is the date when you will gain access to the orientation course in Canvas. You will have two weeks from that date to complete the course.
