David Moshman, professor emeritus, will lead a discussion on hate speech, free speech and academic freedom from 5 to 6 p.m. Feb. 26 in Henzlik Hall, Room 124.

The talk, organized by the Department of Educational Psychology’s Diversity and Ethnic Minority Affairs Committee, is free and open to the public.

Moshman, an intellectual freedom activist, has served as the president of the ACLU of Nebraska and the Academic Freedom Coalition of Nebraska. He is a professor emeritus of educational psychology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Moshman remains an active writer on issues regarding intellectual freedom and human rights.

During the Feb. 26 talk, Moshman will discuss topics related to hate speech, free speech, academic freedom and how violent threats relate to hate speech. He will also examine how students can advocate for social change.
