REPRESENTATION AGREEMENT

This service is provided by the UNL student government (ASUN) for the benefit of currently enrolled UNL students. There is no additional charge for the representation you receive at Student Legal Services.

If you are eligible for the service, our attorneys will provide advice, referral, or representation to the extent allowed by our program guidelines.

To maintain eligibility for the service, the client must:

 - Communicate responsively with their attorney.
 - Attend all scheduled court appearances and appointments.

Failure to meet these obligations may result in the attorney terminating the representation.

If a client is ten minutes or more late to an appointment, the client will be asked to reschedule. If a client fails to attend three appointments in one semester, the client will not be eligible for this service for the remainder of that semester.

SLS will maintain client files for ten years after the case is closed. After ten years, files will be destroyed.

Your education records are protected by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act or "FERPA." However, your attorney may need to disclose protected educational information to help you resolve your case. By accepting this agreement, you hereby provide consent to SLS to disclose information from your education records as your attorney decides is necessary.

If you are NOT a United States citizen and you are charged with a criminal offense, you may be subject to immigration consequences.
