A TREE-mendous celebration - Maxwell Arboretum fall festival is Oct. 18

Lincoln, Neb. — The public is invited to the Friends of Maxwell Arboretum's fall festival on Oct. 18. This annual, family-friendly event will take place from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the Earl G. Maxwell Arboretum, near 38th and Holdrege streets on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's East Campus. Co-sponsors are the UNL Garden Friends and UNL Landscape Services.

Events include children's activities, mini pumpkin decorating with Sigma Alpha sorority, a tree planting, crafting with the Nebraska Forest Service and Nebraska Statewide Arboretum and Smokey Bear. Free Dairy Store ice cream and popcorn from the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture will be provided. There will also be opportunities to talk with tree and insect experts and other plant specialists.

Parking is available in the Dental College parking lot, the East Campus Loop and areas near the Dairy Store.

Booths and displays will be provided by Kimmel Orchard, Heartland Nuts ‘N More/Nebraska Nut Growers, the university’s Department of Entomology, University of Nebraska State Museum at Morrill Hall, Audubon Nebraska, Lincoln Wood Carvers, UNL Community and Regional Forestry, the Quilt Study Center and Museum, UNL Recycling and more.
