LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) —The University of Nebraska-Lincoln received a prestigious silver level award in their engineering college from the American Society for Engineering Education and Diversity.

The award is given to schools who demonstrate stand-out growth in the areas of increased diversity, inclusion and degree completion from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups.

“In the College of Engineering, we are committed to providing an inclusive and diverse community as we work to fulfill our mission to meet the workforce demands and drive economic development in the state of Nebraska,” said dean Lance C. Pérez.

UNL said their staff supports diversity and they will continue to increase diversity efforts and forge ahead with their mission.

“We will continue to enhance and grow our diversity and inclusion efforts through our deep commitment to engineering, computing and construction education, research and engagement,” said Perez.

The award has only been given to three U.S. schools so far.

UNL’s College of Engineering won the bronze level award in 2019.
