Who is a "Learning Community Peer Mentor"?

A Peer Mentor is an upper-division student, which is someone beyond their first-year at UNL, who is in the same major, college, pre-professional path, and/or someone who shares a similar identity or interest to you! They oversee your Learning Community to be an amazing resource and guide for you throughout your first-year. They'll hold Weekly Floor Hours to assist with studying and homework, provide plenty of social opportunities to meet new people, and plan events to take you around Lincoln and beyond to explore career options and get you connected to your passions and interests. Getting to know them is a great way to start building connections and have a support system from the beginning!

I would go to France! I would love to see the French agriculture and culture. Also they have some pretty good food!

If you were in a Learning Community, what was your favorite experience? If you were not in a Learning Community, what are you looking forward to as a mentor?
I loved getting the opportunity to further my career interests and meet people with similar goals. I met some of my best friends through my LC and would do it again in a heartbeat.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
I would love to go to Greece. It’s always been on my bucket list, and a couple of my favorite childhood movies were set there.
What is the best piece of advice would you give to a first-year student?
Try to find a good balance between your social and school lives. It is a lot harder to find this balance in college than in high school, with the added presence of being on your own, but it is important that you take care of all aspects of yourself.

In my free time I like to repair technology and older video games. Lately I have also been trying to learn to 3d model.
What is the best piece of advice would you give to a first-year student?

What is the best piece of advice would you give to a first-year student?
I would recommend first-year students make use of any social opportunity presented by the college. Clubs, events, and etc. are the best ways to meet friends in a casual environment that class doesn’t provide. In addition, by going to things you’re interested in, you’ll meet people there who are attending because they have the same interests and that’s a great basis to start a friendship when you don’t know someone.
Do you have any fun hobbies? What are they?
I like cooking and painting with acrylic a lot! I also really enjoy photography and spending time in Nature.
